When I began to envision Abundant Marketing, there were two main goals I had: (1) help small business owners with their marketing so they have time to work in their business and (2) create a workplace that my employees love to be a part of. As the company began to grow, I began to realize that there were more small businesses that needed help with marketing than just Raleigh small businesses. The only solution to this problem was to focus on the second goal, building a team that could help me serve small businesses.
However, with the type of businesses we work with and the type of service level we are trying to offer, there was a very distinct way that we had to grow our team.
3 things Abundant Marketing has done to grow our sales team is:
- Have One Contact in Abundant Marketing: One of the toughest things we faced when building our sales teams was customers who wanted to have a relationship with the owner of Abundant Marketing and not the marketing managers. In order to counteract this, we set up a more specific training process so our team could be the “owners” in their markets.
- Set Up Local Office: Our small business customers like being able to see our team, ask their questions, and have someone that understand their market. For example, our Durham small businesses love to see our Durham marketing manager who went to the same high school as their kids are currently attending.
- Recruited Carefully: Many of our marketing managers are working in local small businesses or restaurants before they come to Abundant Marketing. These individuals are passionate about helping all of our clients just the way the owner of Abundant Marketing is.
All of the Abundant Marketing team is passionate about serving Raleigh area businesses, Durham area businesses, and Chapel Hill area businesses. If you are a business owner, take a moment and head over to our meet the team page to meet our marketing managers.
