Around the Abundant Marketing office, we have one very different employee than most companies. He has four legs and says no words, but he is a huge part of our team! It’s the office dog, Yogi! Yogi is in the Raleigh office most days. But, why bring a dog to work?
One of the major goals our owner, Ashley Morrison, had when opening Abundant Marketing was to offer a great work environment. While he started coming as a way to increase the work/home balance for Ashley, he has changed the entire atmosphere at Abundant Marketing.
3 ways the Raleigh office of Abundant Marketing has changed since a dog joined our team are:
- Decreases Stress Among Employees: Yogi is Dutch Shepherd and like many Shepherds, he feels the need to herd people. Thus, he makes it around to every employee’s desk about once per hour. If a social media writer is struggling with writer’s block on a blog post, it won’t be long before Yogi comes to help.
- Boosts Team Unity: Bringing new social media employees into our Raleigh company and training them can be very nerve wracking, for the trainer and the new employee. But, dogs are a great conversation piece to break the ice. Especially in our office, Yogi is great at reading emotions and does his best to make everyone feel safe and comfortable.
- Employees Stay Longer: We have heard from our Raleigh office staff that the office feels more like a home environment than a work environment. While this can be a bad thing, our employees say it boost morale and makes them feel comfortable working longer. Furthermore, employees are more likely to stay with a Raleigh company longer with a good atmosphere at the office.
